What's on TV?

I did this originally for my videogames portfolio. So if you can see jagged lines running around the edges of the models, sorry, that's the nature of the beast. But come back in ten years' time to experience him in holographic virtual reality, and tickle him under the chin with telemetry gloves.

The idea is to make a decent-looking model without overcomplicating it. A good way to do this is to only construct the broad shapes in 3D, and then cheat the detail by wrapping the geometry with 2D colour maps. It's a real workout for the artistic muscles, because it requires both modelling and Photoshop illustration skills to pull it off.

Check out Capcom's Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube for a beautiful example of how to do it right. Near-movie quality visuals, all running in real time on eighty quid's worth of hardware.
