2005-6

Haze is a first-person shooter released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3 by Nottingham-based games company Free Radical Design and publisher Ubisoft. I worked on the project very briefly, just long enough to make the characters you see here. How did I get these little people inside a computer? Have you seen the film Tron?

I quit Free Radical in 2006 after working there for eighteen months, but I still think my contract forbids me from speaking too candidly about Haze's development and some of the personalities involved. Never mind though, because the reviews from the gaming press do a lot of the talking. Somebody should print out that Eurogamer write-up and stick the pages up on the office walls belonging to Haze's scriptwriter and creative lead. It might deflate an ego or two.

On a more upbeat note, the character art team at FRD were a fantastic set of lads, one of the best groups of people I've ever worked with. And if you own a PS3, be sure to check out Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear Solid 4. All of those are great.

He's an innocent bystander in a shooting game. It was always going to end badly for this fella.
