This custom-built ventriloquist’s dummy was made at Millennium FX for BBC TV’s Jonathan Creek series. I sculpted him, making up the caricature aspect as I went along. Then
Professor Gustav Hoegen mechanised the head to make the eyes move and
the jaw flap Terrance And Phillip style. |
The programme’s
producers wanted the puppet’s pants to fall down and his arse to start
speaking too, so I sculpted his body with some good fleshy acne-scarred
buttocks. In a shameful bit of dereliction of duty, I forgot to get a photograph
of these artistic marvels to show you.
The torso was fibreglass, with the arsecheeks attached as foam rubber pieces and blended in. I’m telling you all this for when you come to make your own talking arse puppet.
