As bizarro as this guy looks, I actually based the sculpture on a picture of a real person. I found him in a volume of portrait photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson called Tête À Tête.

There’s any number of fascinating and inspiring faces in that book, but this character especially caught my eye.
